I’m Amy Benson, an illustrator and graphic designer, based near Providence, RI.
During the pandemic, I fell in love with watercolor painting. I have been working since then to hone my skills. I have a fondness for architectural illustrations, particularly storefronts and interiors. I enjoy visiting historic homes and walking through neighborhoods looking at all the details. I take photos and work from them as part of my daily mixed-media sketchbook practice or as references to create watercolor illustrations.
As a graphic designer, I've had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects from web design to branding and print collateral, most recently under the creative direction of Bottlerocket design group. I decided to leave there in 2021 to pursue more illustration projects.
I also love a good cup of tea, dark chocolate, reading, photography, my daily meditation practice, spending time in nature, and traveling throughout New England.
I have a BFA in Visual Arts from the University of Connecticut and completed the Web Design and Development Certificate Program from Rhode Island School of Design.
I am available for illustration and freelance design projects. Get in touch here.
